Sri Lanka’s Central Bank has added the Indian Rupee to the list of currencies that are permitted to be used for offshore banking, taking the total to 16.
The Central Bank added the Thai Bhat to the list last year in a direction to be used in offshore banking business scheme.
The 16 include the Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Chinese Renminbi, Danish Kroner, Euro, Hongkong Dollar, Indian Rupee, Japanese Yen, New Zealand Dollar, Norwegian Kroner, Pound Sterling, Singapore Dollar, Swedish Kroner, Swiss Franc, Thai Baht, and US Dollar.
