Digital Marketing Summit 2024: A Resounding Success

The Digital Marketing Summit 2024, the premier event for digital marketing professionals, wrapped up successfully at Water’s Edge, Colombo. Organized by the Digital Marketing Association of Sri Lanka (DMASL), the summit, held on July 3rd and 4th, brought together over 600 participants, providing a dynamic platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring the latest trends and tools in digital marketing.

Day 1 Highlights:

The summit began with a grand inauguration led by the President and Secretary of DMASL. The meticulously curated agenda featured a blend of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops, offering attendees valuable insights and innovative strategies to stay ahead in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

  • Uma Rudd Chia delivered a standout keynote titled “Preserving Human Creativity in the Age of AI.” She emphasized the importance of maintaining a human point of view amidst the rise of artificial intelligence, urging marketers to put their unique perspectives into their work to stand out.
  • Sotirios P. Seridis focused on optimizing the digital marketing mix, highlighting the need to align marketing activities with business objectives. He stressed that a strategic approach is crucial for tailoring product offerings to meet specific company goals.

  • Nuwan I. Senaratna delved into modern advertising policies and their impact on ad engagement. He underscored the importance of understanding and complying with platform policies to maximize ad visibility and prevent costly setbacks.

  • Gamika De Silva and Anand Tilak led an interactive session, “My Boss Didn’t See My Ads,” providing practical solutions for ensuring ads reach both the intended audience and internal stakeholders.

  • Kenny He urged marketers to embrace the rapid advancements in AI during his session, “Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable.” He highlighted the need for agility and adaptability in today’s competitive landscape.

  • Nicole Ingra concluded the day with her presentation, “Beyond Tech: Timeless Catalysts for Success,” emphasizing the balance between technological advancements and timeless values such as creativity, authenticity, and human connection.

The first day set the stage for an equally impactful second day, filled with more sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Day 2 Highlights:

Day 2 continued to build on the momentum with a recap of the previous day’s activities and a series of insightful sessions.

  • Pooja Manek inspired creativity in her session, “AI CAN’T GET ANGRY. YOU CAN,” encouraging marketers to use their emotions as a source of creative inspiration.

  • Archana Roche discussed “Measuring Marketing Effectiveness in the Digital Age,” emphasizing the importance of data-driven decision-making.

  • James Baldwin and Alessandro Fragiacomo explored the merging of culture and commerce in a social-first world, highlighting the crucial role of influencers in modern marketing.

  • Casie Lane presented “The Next Frontier: AR Advertising Beyond Smartphones,” showcasing the potential of augmented reality in marketing.

  • Rey Tiempo led sessions on gaming and marketing, demonstrating how brands can leverage gaming for enhanced engagement.

  • Keshaka Kularatne and Sidharth Jain provided practical insights on generative AI and digital storytelling, respectively, in their breakout sessions.

  • Donal Keenan and Harry Singh led discussions on brand iconography and the future of B2B marketing, offering forward-looking perspectives on digital marketing strategies.

The summit concluded with a social event, allowing participants to unwind and network, fostering connections that will drive future collaborations.
